Our lab was recently published in the Journal of Visual Experiments....is this something you can put on a med school application and count as a research publication, or is it not 'high-impact' enough?

Yes it's a valid and fine research publication. It's peer reviewed and showing other scientists how you carried out the experiments is a good thing.

Yup. It's a peer-reviewed journal, a very useful one at that.

Besides that being a fine journal, I don't think anything is "not 'high impact' enough" for medical school applications besides predatory pay-to-publish journals.

JoVE is awesome, especially for protocols where words just won't cut it (but a video will lol)
