Is July too late for an MCAT retake this cycle?

Hey guys. I am signed up for a June 2 MCAT retake but with school I have been slacking, and do not want to take it until I am really ready. I am either going to cancel June 2 and go with my old score, or push it further into the summer. I have a prior 502, focusing my apps on almost all DO + in state MD's. Would a July MCAT just be completely shooting myself in the foot?

MSUCOM is my number one choice/dream school, and I feel as though my 502 is not going to give me the edge I need there.

No, you'll be fine. Also, your current score is acceptable for them depending on your GPA (only if you are in-state). Seems like interviews start in August for them too, and you'd have your MCAT score by then so I don't see why it would cause any issues.

I took it in September and it was enough time. July should be plenty.

July is early and Aug/Sept is on time. If your gpa is decent and you do well on the mcat you'll be fine, but get verified/your paperwork ready and submit as soon as the new mcat score comes in. Submitting with your old MCAT might ding you at some schools who rank as soon as the application comes in and then don't see the new score. You could submit early to a throw-away school just to get it all done (lots of threads on such) then apply broadly.
