I am really nervous, it is my first time taking the DAT. I am currently in the Kaplan online course. I have the test scheduled for 8/20/2012. I scored on the DAT tests

Bio - 15
Gen Chem - 14
Org Chem - 17
PAT - 23
RC - 17
QR - 20

TS - 15
AA - 17

I don't know why Im scoring so low I completed DAt destroyer, read all bio notes, as for gen chem I always get a low score, any suggestions? I really need to improve my GC and Bio.

I just completed both the real DAT and the Kaplan study course. In my opinion Bio, O.Chem, RC, QR were very even in terms of difficulty, I will say the kaplan did have a lot more plant related questions, I saw no plant questions on my DAT (but then again I also didn't have a question about glycolysis, the endocrine system, the circulatory system, the menstrual cycle, meiosis, or mitosis). I just think bio is going to vary a lot and educated guesses are what saved me because I feel like that's all I was doing the whole section. Gen.Chem was easier on the real deal because there were fewer calculations. Kaplan PAT is cake compared to the real thing, especially angles and hole punching, which were so much more difficult than Kaplan. Good luck to you.

Thanks I appreciate it. I am currently looking over Chad's videos which I just began today and it is really filling the gaps of the subjects on G. chem I didn't know. So it highly recommended for everyone I think! Umm what were your scores if you don't mind comparing both Kaplan and the real DAT?

20/19/19 (PA/TS/AA) scores ranged from 18-21. This is pretty consistent with what I averaged on the three practice tests, except I was getting like 23, 24 on PAT. My biggest mistake was listening to everyone on here say the real test was so much easier than Kaplan. This is why I thought I should respond to you before everyone else told you that. But then again I only used Kaplain, no other study materials. But who knows. Good Luck to you.

If you have access to all the Kaplan online course material. I suggest you do plenty of practice questions. The information you memorized is only going to stick and really make sense when applied in a question. Basically you need to do more practice questions. You don't have to make it into a test scenario with timing, etc. just do them and learn from them.

Thanks I appreciate it and that is what I tend to do. Look over all the questions from tests quizzes and see what i got wrong and why and learn all the other answers and how they can be true.
