The title basically says it all, I was wondering if the Kaplan Orgo book contains all of the necessary information for the MCAT, or should I look into other books?

I used Kaplan and I think it covered it well enough. Organic is really stressed as much as things like biochem are, so if you understand all the organic chemistry involved with biochem, you're golden! Just know general trends of reactions with different functional groups, properties, recognizing structures, and that's kind of it. Knowing the really well-known names, like what acetone is.

Thanks so much! So memorizing the Strecker synthesis mechanism and Gabriel synthesis would be unnecessary, or what would I need to know about reactions like that?

I didn't memorize them. Just look over it a few times so you understand what's going on generally.

biochem is nearly ubiquitous throughout the test. i hear basic organic shows up every now and then. Also, if u think kaplan isnt detailed enough, look at EK, which has a single chapter in its chem book dedicated to ochem
