Maybe I just passed over it...but is Marquette in the dental school interview feedback section. If it is not, is there a reason why?

Interviews are not required (for out-of-staters)

I talked to an adcom at Marquette yesterday (and about 2-3 months ago). The last time I talked to her, she mentioned that they dont conduct out of state interviews and were figuring out if that was going to be an option for 2005 seeing that there are so many out of state applicants (and total applicants for that matter). When I called yesterday the adcom (unsure of her name) mentioned that Marquette is going to interview out of staters starting this year beginning some time in October, but dont quote me on the month (for the class of 2009 and beyond). She also mentioned, however, that if you dont get an interview and are out of state you can still matriculate into the class. I am hoping I get an invite to interview.......

so let me get this straight... starting this cycle marquette is going to interview some out of staters before acceptance, and just accept some outright without an interview. is this what you mean? if so, how would they decide who does and doesn't get interviewed prior to acceptance? would interviews only be neccesary for candidates they consider "borderline" or "need more information"? thanks.

I hope I get in without interview!!!

I turned in my secondary already but haven't heard yet

maybe they are deciding who to interview...???

god help me

I got an invitation for an interview in the middle of October

The strange part is I haven?t' even sent in my secondary, LOR or check yet.

Strange huh?

Getting in without an interview would be sweet.

Where do I sign up for one of those?

that's impossible, i called marquette, they dont even look at your application without the application fee.

just called marquette again, their adcom haven't even started reviewing applications...and wont do so until october...how do you get an interview anyways?

I talked to Marquette on Wed, they said that they would not start lookin at applications untill october as well.

I guess all I can do is wait for snail mail.

i don't know who yall talked to but they have absolutely started looking at applications. several people have gotten interview invitations. my letter from them says that the admissions comittee has completed an initial screening of applications and supporting credentials, are impressed with my credentials and want to interview me. whoever told you they aren't even looking at apps until october was giving you a run around, unless they meant in state apps or unless by "look at apps" they meant "decide for sure on apps".

I dont get it either...I know someone who is in my classes who got an interview invite as well. The person I talked to (at MU) said they were going to start looking at applications on September 15. That being said, however, after talking to the girl who got the interview in my classes, she said that they do multiple rounds (or something of that nature) of interviews, so this first round may not be the last. In reference to what some have you have asked pertaining to my post about getting in without an interview....Marquette has been doing this for years....they used to not interview any out of staters...so I dont see why this is so shocking (ie not getting an interview, yet still getting in). All of this stuff is so frustrating....I just wish I knew how close/far I was to getting an interview/acceptance from any school.

My GPA is 3.5 overall 3.6 science, DAT 20/20/21.

"For the 2004-2005 application cycle the Marquette University School of Dentistry will initiate a more formal interview process for our non-resident applicants. It is our hope that these interviews will allow us to have a clearer and more substantive feeling about our out-of-state prospects before offers of admission are initially made in early December"

"Remember that 50% or 40 of our 80 freshman spaces go to non-resident students each year. Interview slots will fill quickly so we ask that you call to reserve your interview slot by Monday, September 20,2004.... if you are not interested, for any reason, please contact us as well, so that we can pursue other candidates from this year's applicant pool."

I was told to talk with Judy Riley or Lindsay Littler, so maybe they could be more helpful

one, the folks answering the phones, are not always the most reliable.

two, the folks answering the phones, know whats up with your application and are just trying to spare you the frustration of not saying yes or no to the interview. I.E there trying to be nice, by giving round about answers, they assume your not going to get an interview. Rather than flat out you suck over the phone, they have you wait, and wait some more. Kind of like purgatory, wouldn't you say.

In fact we I could describe the admission process much like Dante's Inferno

If you get rejected your down in hell.
but if you get the acceptance your in heaven.

finally if your waitlisted your in purgatory.
