I have time to do one subI before I take my step II. I'm debating between doing emergency or internal med for my subI. I prefer NOT to do medicine...but I'm wondering if you think it would be really helpful for step II studying? Or could I score just as well from studying from books? I would have taken my third-year medicine rotation about 1 year ago from when i plan to take step II.

I think you would be better served to take an easier rotation that month instead of a medicine sub-i, and spend your free time doing 1-2 hours of Step 2 studying each day. That seems to be of much higher yield than relying on a sub-i to prepare you. Plus, you won't be as worn out as you would have been doing a busy sub-i.

I never did a Medicine SubI (not doing IM) and did really well on CK... so I'd go ER if that's what you'd rather do!

agree with above. you don't need any sub-i prior to step 2CK, all you need is special time with uworld. enjoy your rotation in the ER!
