For my first semester of college, I'm planning on taking:

General Chemistry + lab
Trigonometry and Precalculus
World Religions
Anthropology
15 hours

I know many people start off taking Bio and Chem together, but my plan is to do General Chem freshman year, orgo and bio my sophomore year, and physics my junior year. My reason being is that I feel like my high school science preparation isn't strong, so I don't want to overwhelm myself going in, as I obviously want to pull the highest grades possible.
But, does this sequence seem "easy" in the eyes of med schools?

Thanks for any replies!

NOOOOOoooo. Bricks, the best thing you could do for college is have a SOLID start. Your schedule is perfect. Even if you went to boarding school, transitioning to college will still be quite a task. So stick with the easiest schedule possible and shoot for a 4.0 your first semester!! You can do it!!

It looks good. It is a smart move to start off "easy" and then slowly increase the workload and difficulty of classes. Generally, adcoms don't have the time to scrutinize every semester; as long as you are a full-time student + some ECs, you should be fine.

Don't worry about what others might consider "ease".

Just focus on gettin' dem A's.

A light semester (especially your first couple) with all As is infinitely better than a hard semester with As, Bs and Cs.

It's very similar to my own first semester. I think it's a great start, and having a lighter first sem gave me a big confidence boost throughout the whole first year.

I'd personally just add English to it, but it's not a big adjustment.

And welcome to SDN, Bricks!! Good luck with being pre-med!! :welcome:

my first semester in college was easier than this lol

This is perfect. Get used to college and have a little fun, before the REAL fun starts LOL.

You can also spend some time volunteering and shadowing to strengthen your application.

Good grades + Good extracurricular activities = SUCCESS!

My 1st semester was harder than this and I got a couple B's. Totally wish I could go back and start lighter.

There's nothing wrong with your schedule. Get A's while fulfilling your requirements in any combination you see fit.

Bio 1 w/lab
Chem 1 w/lab
Calc 1 w/lab
Random ass class here (like your world religions class)
3-5 hours of research a week

That is a perfect combination of courses. Not too easy, not too hard.

First semester of COLLEGE...

Noone will knock you off for having an easy schedule in your first undergrad semester. This is a BIG myth.

Would you rather take a hard schedule and get a 2.0? Remember, college for some is an adjustment. Also, freshmen is where the social experience jumps from high school, and you can have a light schedule to at least start making friends, and from there, amping the classes up.

in my first year i took a bunch of relatively difficult classes and it wasn't fun at all. your schedule looks good op.

It would be better for you to get all A's than have a bad start.

Did you take trig in high school? If so, you could just review over the summer. Everything covered in a trig class can be self-taught in a short amount of time, but whatever you prefer.
