Hello...I know I *should* know this, but can someone tell me if NYU has rolling admissions. Thank you much, oh wise studentdoctor cronies! 😀

Yes, fairly certain about that.

Semi-Rolling. Decisions are made only after jan 20-something for regular people. Ad com meets on certain days to accept people after that.
MSAR is inaccurate.

Along the same lines, was anyone invited to an interview w/o receiving their application complete notification. I got a really nasty response when I called the office to check.

Hmm, I certainly wasn't invited. I'm curious, though, as to why so many people have had bad experiences calling the admissions office. I've called twice previously, and they have been very cooperative and nice. The first time I called was to check the status of my application, and the second call was to ask if I could send in additional supplemental material while they await my August MCAT score. They responded positively to both of my calls. I'm hoping they'll send me a supplemental application soon - it's one of my top choices b/c of their curriculum! 🙂 Good luck to all. :luck:

Did you talk to a girl or a guy?

I talked to a guy and when I asked if my application was complete he said "We don't do status checks over the phone" and then hung up on me.

Just wanted to thank y'all for the info re: NYU Rolling Ads.

Isn't this process fun?!

Oh, and I hate that calling-the-admissions-office game...I try to put on my most polite voice (which for me means higher in tone -- but then everyone thinks I'm a woman..which, I'm not) and also try to plead my case in about two seconds before I'm put on hold/totally dismissed/etc. I think it's an art. 😛

After having called a few med school offices, I think the best advice is to just be firm and pleasant...and persistent. It's been posted a bunch of times on this board, but it's worth repeating: being proactive in this process can only help you...and sometimes it's WAY too easy for the admiss. office to ignore emails (cough...Hopkins...cough), so talking directly with someone is obviously most effective.

Good luck, all!

the people @ the nyu admissions office are definitely not very friendly...When they screwed up on their secondary this summer and it cost $0.01, somehow I got charged for it twice and when I called them to take off the charge, they couldn't figure it out...it took them a week to get back to me and then it finally came off. Then a few weeks ago, I called to find out my status and they basically were like, you should have gotten an email and hung up. Greaaaat.

umm...how bout...i submitted my secondary on like July 30th or 31st and I got an email confirmation on complete with credentials, etc on Aug 10th..and have heard nothing since then? At least if they're not offering me an interview, send me a quick 2 line rejection letter/email, etc, so i'm not in limbo....damn

not too nice: i called to withdraw my application and cancel my interview, and they were still not very nice and basically hung up on me. i'm not doing anyone a favor, but i at least wanted to get a chance to thank them for considering me and say that i hoped someone else could get the spot...hope it goes to you dr.thom or lrmed!

You;ve got to be kidding. It's only october. Interviews JUST started a couple weeks ago at NYU. Unless you are the cream of the crop, you better take what you get.

I dunno what NYU said this year, but last year NYU said they were going to accept a small amount of students in early January (or something like that) and the majority on Feb. 15. Not so at all....I got in on like Dec 7. and alot other people received acceptances throughout Dec. From reading this board, almost no one who had to wait until Feb 15. got an acceptance at that point, just waitlists and rejections. NYU's written admissions policy and actual policy did not match last year. I don't know if things will be different this year since they moved to AMCAS.

PS. NYU has the worst financial aid package imaginable
It is very disappointing to think you are going to go to NYU for months only to be offered $50,000 of loans when you're EFC is 0.

*scratches head*...FA is one of the least complained about things here at NYU. With all that ranting and raving, I thought you were going to bash addmissions, not Financial aid office. Anyway, couldn't be further from the truth. The average debt per graduate at NYU is less than 100,000. This is public statistic. Just call addmissions, if you can get past the "mean people."

😱 But then again, there are BU and Tufts who only give around $2,000/yr in grants & scholarship. Med schools are expensive.

its a good sign you got this many interviews. its only october too. I only had 3 interviews in october last year.

Yeah, that's only 'cause you applied late. I think you would've done alot better if you applied early like I'm doing. Anyways, I will send you a PM with what's going on with me in terms of acceptances.
