If you live in PA then there are two D.O. schools, and I think your chances of getting in are very good. Both schools LECOM and PCOM give interviews to over 1/2 of their instate applicants... I know there is some overlap here, b/c many students apply to both schools, if not most.

looking at the stats:

LECOM,
app. int. acc. enrolled
Total: 2,864 512 349 144
In state: 464 271 217 92
Outofst: 2,400 241 132 52
Women: 1,133 203 137 54
Minoritie: 994 N/A 44 13

PCOM,

App Int Acc Enr
Total: 4,280 558 389 256
In state: 612 319 240 169
OUTstat:3,668 239 149 87
Women: 1,775 246 169 116
Minor: 1,381 153 101 63

What does everyone else think?? Is there any other state that has it better as far as in state applicants applying to D.O. school??

What do you think about this analysis???

thanks..

Mike

If you are just looking at the percentages, then Maine residents have a much greater success rate with UNECOM. Of course, the numbers are quite different. I think about 32 in state applications were submitted, 24 interviews were granted, and 22 individuals were accepted.
Just curiosly, why are you interested in other states? Are you planning on changing your residency before you apply to med school?

I may be moving before med school... I'm looking for a change in jobs... I heard teaching in PA is great and I have more than a year before I would begin medschool, so yes I may be moving.. and it may actually help me get into a school...

I don't know if this is any help, but I am a PA resident. I applied to both schools and was accepted. At the PCOM interview there were only PA residents and there were six of us. At the LECOM out of eight interviewees only one was from out of state. Also, both of these interviews were early in the game.
