I am a 2014 grad and will be looking for a hospital staffing position in a large metropolitan area. Is it worth it making the trip to midyear to do PPS? I am not sure if it is mainly jobs for people with residencies.

No. From what I recall, most of the staff jobs at PPS that didn't require residency were in small towns.
