I have a feeling this is a very stupid question

Some med schools consider it okay, others do not.

It probably depends on the school. At mine it is. YMMV.

If it's labeled MATH then it's...math...and it counts toward your BCPM GPA. So get an A.

Depends.... did you take it in college? I took it in HS 😕

most people i know took pre-calculus in 11th or 12th grade, however if the course at your college is not a remedial class (meaning it isn't below a 100 level class) and you're getting college credit then it should count.

you learn pre-calc when you're like 16. No, it's not something you pay thousands of dollars a semester to be taught

Most schools have it as a 100 level course, so it should definitely count for your BCMP GPA calculation. Beyond that, I would check with the specific school you are interested in to determine if it meets their criteria if they are actually looking for "college level math". My guess is that most would say no and want Calc and above.

Yeah it counts. So does elementary stats, and all the liberal arts math classes as well.

Why are you people so scared of calculus!?! Integrals and derivatives are NOT hard. Oh and my 14 year old little brother just finished precal 😴

Some people (like myself) just aren't good at math. Calculus is easy for some and a nightmare for others. You just have to be careful to get help if you need it and not fall behind and you'll be fine. I guess that applies for every hard class though.

The concepts of integrals and derivatives aren't hard, but the class definitely can be. Even the people who destroyed exams in my Cal II class thought the final was hard. Complex problems numerous enough to artificially create a curve and a timed test? Yeah, it can be hard.

That said I'm not even a "math person" and I was able to do well in Cal I and II. I could have done better had I put more work in. 🙁

Very true. I'm extremely lucky and just *get* math-got a solid A in Calc doing the bare minimum of work. I have a couple of friends who struggle with algebra once it starts involving multiple variables. They're not stupid, by any means, straight As otherwise, math just kills them.

Pretty much everything that's not remedial math counts for college math, so that's basically college algebra, precalc, statistics, calculus, etc.

To be honest for me calc 1 was easier than precalc and even stat ( Stat is painfully boring).

...Did you take it in college? If so, then yes, it counts towards your BCPM gpa and all.

It count as BCPM gpa, but it wont satisfy the 1 year math pre-req, I think.
