Hi,

I am just half way thru' with my Pre reqs - But, I am preparing for my MCAT, and planning to get MCAT done by May/June for 2014 admissions.

Is it fine to apply this year for 2014 admissions, even before my pre req completion?

I have seen in few admissions webpages that the undergrad credits need to be completed prior to enrollment to Med school. Is that right?

So just hoping that its fine to apply now, and then pursue with the remaining prereqs in Summer, Fall, and next Spring.

Thanks.

It is not required prior to application, but it is helpful. If the school can see that you successfully completed prereqs, then you are much lower risk to the school.

You're only halfway done with your pre-reqs and planning to take the MCAT in 3-4 months so you can matriculate in 2014? Probably not the best idea.

Yes, thats my plan as of now 🙂 - I had done all the prereqs before from an International school (thats not accepted here in the US) - So basically I am redoing those - but I have an idea about the topics (since I have done those before).

Technically only you have to have all the pre-reqs completed before you matriculate. However, consider how schools are going to look at this. In such a competitive environment are they going to take the applicant who HAS a 3.8 GPA etc etc. Or the applicant who MAY have a 3.8 GPA etc etc but has not finished yet. I think you can see where I'm going with this...

Generally, what others have said is correct. However, a few schools require you to complete all prerequisites by January of the year in which admission is sought. Vanderbilt and Cornell are two schools that do this.

I would suggest waiting with your application for 2014 until you have to turn it in next year. I am in a similar situation,... kinda. I put in an application for 2013, but I am still in Orgo, Phys II (and Calc II... not required) right now. I also will do a short summer English course (I CLEP'd the English required for my undergrad)... which will make 6 credit hours in English. I hope that it helps that I have A's in all of my other Post Bacc classes. Not trying to hijack the thread, but I am very interested in the answer to your question... thanks for posting it! Any advice for me would be appreciated.
