I am new to this site, so please forgive me if this has been addressed. I was curious to know if doing research really enhances one's chance of being accepted to an EM residency program. If anyone has any input on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would say USMLE scores and EM rotation/3rd year rotations are most important... research is an extra

I haven't seen any program that requires research from their applicants. That being said, it wouldn't hurt.

was told by faculty that i didn't "need to" so i did not in med school. on my eras i listed the only research i have done, which was a summer program after my jr year in college. it has been mentioned in all of my interviews so far (3), but was not a major focus. the interests i listed in the CV section have been brought up many times more. can't say it hurt i guess, but it's just 1 piece of a big picture.

An applicant's research (or lack of) has never, in my experience, raised or lowered someone's position on our ranklist.
