Is science a noble profession?

"Science" is kind of broad, kind of like asking if humanities are noble.

I guess it depends on what you use it for? If you're researching a cure for cancer, yes. If you're studying the chemical composition of a rock, maybe not. Still possibly important but not really noble.

Science is an extremely broad field of study, with many professions and even smaller fields of study within it. For instance, medicine is a smaller field of study within science, and a physician, widely considered a noble profession, is within the field of medicine.

You could be an evil nuclear physicist hell-bent on destroying all of mankind with atomic bombs, yet your work would still fall under "science".

Science (more specifically, scientific thinking) is the Human species' greatest hope for survival. And yes -- it is that dramatic.

^ This. Though I will add that with the level of bureaucratic BS in biomedical science these days, that specific subfield of science is not as noble as it could be.
