Topscore is filled with them.

I took the DAT's yesterday and got a 23 on Reading Comp. Practically all 3 of my passages were search and destroy, perhaps 35 out of the 50 questions.

I posted this in another person's RC fears thread, but I would like to point out that for those who have taken DAT achiever, it shook my confidence before the test because I was scoring 16s and 17s on that. 23 on the ACTUAL DAT says something else. CHILLAX, stay calm, and you'll be fine on the real thing.

thank u

first i took the Topscore Rc's and score 21+ on all 3
then took the acheiver (with lots of tone) and scored like 14 or 15

i got scared of that score and even more scared when ppl said current DAT is more tone b/c S&D method was eliminated

Yes... Prob between 35-40 would be pretty accurate but thats just my experience.
someone posted their DAT breakdown and they said that S&D has been eliminated or something, that the DAt writers have noticed ppl just search instead of reading so they went away with it

i hope its not true:xf:

ahhh thanks for telling us this! I took achiever yesterday and got a 17 in RC. Seeing this makes me feel better haha.. cuz i'll be taking the real deal soon so hopefully I can do as well as you did.

It seems like the DAT makers are lurking on SDN. 😡

They have eliminated/reduced S&D in RC.
They have eliminated/reduced counting lines in Front-Top-End.

I'm sure they're going through DAT/Math Destroyer and avoid creating questions that sound similar to ones found in these books.

I'm sure they're going through CDP too, and thus the emergence of half-folded holes.

I would be on this board too if I were a test writer.

Well, it's probably safe to assume that they don't look at Kaplan materials

And for people claiming that S&D still works, I would take these postings at face value. I could see people intentionally misleading us so we'll score low on RC and be less competitive than them.

I find it strange and difficult to believe how DAT writers are creating a bunch of tone/inference questions now to counteract S&D, but not doing it consistently on every exam version??? Doesn't make sense.

The real DAT is pretty easy for RC. I finished with like 20 of the 50 minutes to spare. Or is it 60 minutes? Regardless!

Standardized tests are always going to have an element of luck. They aren't intentionally making certain people's exams harder, but it happens. My DAT last month was full of search/destroy questions. I'd say well over 50% of them. You can believe me or not, I got a good score on mine. There is no reason to be paranoid.

That being said, you may get 3 hard passages full of tone/inference questions. It's possible to just have bad luck.
