Is September too late to submit to schools? When are you planning on submitting?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering when everyone was planning to submit their first application? I should have everything done by end of july and will be sending my app to schools that don't require the GRE. I also will be taking my GRE at the end of August like the last week to give myself enough time of studying, to feel confident . So I will submit my app to schools that require the GRE end of august or Sept. 1st. Does anyone think this is too late? And when are you planning to submit?

I'm applying early decision so my deadline is August 15th. I'm going to try and get my application in by at least July 21st. I will know if I get in by September 25th. If I don't, I will just apply to all the other schools I'm looking at by probably September 27th.

I'm not sure what is considered late or not but I have heard some people voicing concern over having to apply after September 25th if they don't get in early decision. I think if you apply by September 1st you probably should be fine and I would imagine that would be considered earlyish. I might be wrong though.

It depends on whether the schools that you are applying to have rolling admissions or not. If they don't, then it doesn't matter when you apply, as long as it's before their deadline.

Some of my schools have rolling admissions, so I'm going to apply ASAP. It'll probably be the end of July, as my summer class won't be done until July 17th.

For schools that have a hard deadline, does anybody think that applying earlier rather than later gives you some advantage, or do they not generally take a better look at earlier applications? I know with med school people say you are more likely to get in if you apply early, but I haven't heard that as much for PT school.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. If you have the time though, you might as well just apply early and get it out of the way.

I didn't apply to any schools until 10/1/13, and was accepted at 3 schools. The only real downside to applying later is you miss out on some rolling admissions schools, or schools with earlier hard deadlines. In my case, the lateness of my applications did lead to one school filling before they considered my app.
