I was very interested in applying to San Francisco State University as a 2nd Bachelor's student. I'd be applying for an arbitrary degree (taking my year of science pre-reqs) then apply for med school.

I know HealthPlan (?) was shut down for next year, but does anyone know if SFSU is taking second bachelor students for next year? Is there another way in to the informal post-bac there?

Lastly, are you classified as 5th year undergrad for financial aid? $5K subsidized, $5,500 unsubsidized? Only the latter is not needs based, correct?

I'm fairly certain that sfsu is not accepting 2nd degree students (I have a friend who tried and was denied admission). You will have to apply as a post-bac student or a graduate student.

Contact the financial aid office for certifiable answers on what your offer means in terms of loan agreements.

SFSU is a good school for the money. San Francisco is the type of place that can attract talented people who might make more money elsewhere. SFSU uses the majority of its funding to retain good faculty and as a result spends nothing on ancillary student services. As a result it works best for those who don't need their hands to held throughout the process. If you can hold your own on your own go to SFSU. Good luck!--Ben.
