I recently switched to premed as a Junior, so I'm currently trying to fit in my remaining prereqs into my schedule. I am in a major that has a fixed schedule for senior year, and it would be difficult for me to take a lab during that year. I still need orgo lab and another bio lab. I'm planning to take my bio lab next semester, and am considering taking orgo lab this winter. My question is: Is it looked down upon to take orgo lab over the winter or summer? Thank you!

For context, I have already taken orgo 1/2 in the summer to try to catch up, and I would be taking the lab in person at my university.

No. Why on Earth would you think this?

I don't see any problem with doing this, because the closer you get to graduation the less wiggle room you have in your schedule while still fulfilling the requirements for your major. I do think labs should be taken in person & not online, sounds like you plan to do that.

Typically even the "full" term on a summer semester is a few weeks short. At my undergrad, a normal Fall/Spring is 16 weeks; on a summer, the longest you could go for is 12 weeks. On a winter, you could take a mini-term that is roughly 3-4 weeks.

It's generally understood that if you're taking one of these, it is just not reasonable to cover all the topics you would get on a full term. For that reason, it's also quite a bit easier and may even be offered online.

All part of the ensh*ttification of higher education. Charge the students full semester tuition, pay an adjunct $1500 to supervise the TAs that are actually grading the assignments (who themselves are not being paid). Pure profit for the school and ultimately students lose because it encourages cheating/skimming the treetops on the harder classes that are increasingly being offered in this modality.

In other words, if it's not looked down upon, it should be (in theory and outside of extenuating circumstances). I think it's a lose-lose for the student because it encourages credential inflation for programs and adds to the number of absolute years it takes for a student to cross the class hedge of professional education. Womp womp.
