There is a calculator on the Uworld and Kaplan Qbanks, but no calculator on the NBME forms. Is there a calculator on the real thing? I read a great mental math book last year and could probably do the calculations without a calculator, but then again I don't want to get a question wrong because I screwed up a calculation.

For example, the square root of 1/40000. Quick! Do it in your head!

yes and it comes in handy

Can you type numbers into the calculator? The whole clicking numbers thing on Uworld is really really annoying. Also, can you bring earplugs or are they provided?

I didnt try typing the numbers sorry.

You can bring earplugs and I would recommend it. They have orange soundproof headphones but they make your head all sweaty especially when the air conditioning is weak.
