Is there a minimum amount of hours for an experience to be considered for the 15 activities?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have a similar question!

One of my activities is "hospice", but not in the traditional form. The hospital where I volunteer at has this "hospice" program but since it is at a hospital, the people we hospice volunteers comfort are literally on the last hours of their lives. Thus, there are no regular hours. I have my shifts but the shifts are more like "on call" shifts. If there is a patient, who's been taken off of life-support and is actively dying, then we are called in. Moreover, someone can be an official hospice volunteering having only 1-2 hours of volunteering in a year or so since there (luckily) aren't that many people who die at the hospital. Also, if people die, usually the family makes it there to be with them so it is quite rare for any of us hospice volunteers to actually gain hours.

I definitely want to put this in my application but I'm not sure how it's gonna look if I only have 10 hours or so of work. Naturally I'd explain what the program is so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding, but I'd love to have people's take on this. Especially all you long time SDNers and adcoms, @gonnif @Catalystik @Goro @gyngyn @LizzyM @HomeSkool + others!

Thank you!!

In that case, I'd include an explanation in the activity description that you participated in the activity for X number of months but the program's needs were irregular, unpredictable, and of brief duration. I think the value there is that you've shown altruism by caring for others in their final hours and demonstrated that you're able to countenance the prospect of patients dying.
