Is there a point when you lose all hope after taking the diagnostic?

I haven't started studying yet. I have taken nearly 60 credits of science, yet all I managed was an 11 on my diagnostic (BS 2 PS 3 VR 6). Anyone else feel like all hope is gone?

Any inspiring stories out there? I'm wondering if I should be looking into other careers at the moment.

First diagnostic or this is your best one after several. If it's first one then there is hope. My first diagnostic was 18, but after practise I got up to a consistent 30+

This was my very first one. I haven't reviewed or studied anything and I'm currently in the process of finishing up this semester of classes.

My first Diagnostic I got an 11 on VR... the most recent I got a 9.
I managed a 7 on BS but I haven't really had Ochem yet, I'm in it now.
and PS I think I had about the same, (Just now in physics). Its all about practice. knowing the material comes first but knowing how that test works is key Ive noticed... just my 2 cents.

Don't worry, even if you have taken 60 credits of science, the hard science material is only one portion of taking the MCAT and it really is a small part. The biggest part is the ability to read a passage and interpret new information. Also you have to get your timing down. These last two things, your school work can't really prepare you fully. Once you practice, you will get an idea of how to tackle the MCAT.

If you have the time (e.g. a summer), and really want to go into medicine, I think it's worth taking the time to study your hardest for and just go for it.

To be honest, your diagnostic is not great, but I think that you should at least give it a damn good shot if you want it bad enough.

What do you mean by 'diagnostic'? If it's a previously given MCAT you have an uphill battle (though you can do it). If it's the Princeton Review or Kaplan's first diagnostic test you're probably fine.
