Is there a stigma against taking a fifth year in college?

I decided to do pharmacy late in my college career so I took a fifth year to do pre-reqs. Is that a satisfactory enough reason? I also took a quarter off due to health reasons.

Probably won't affect you in any negative way. Just make sure you do well in the prereqs; it's better to take your time and do things efficiently instead of rushing and doing a bad job.

It doesn't matter OP. I will be doing the same thing.

Yea, it's alright. No problem at all. Many people nowadays take 5 years for undergrad.

8 years ago I'd probably say yes, there's a stigma unless you finished with two majors.

Now...well, it's plausible that classes are just full/unavailable due to budget cuts so it could take you 4.5-5yrs to do it.

No problem at all....I took five years( change of major), and was accepted with no problem.

I would say you could even go to 5.5 or 6 years, as that is the average time for an undergrad to graduate anyway. As long as you're spending your time well, it shouldn't matter. Unless you become that guy and stay for like 8

Thanks for the info guys. I'm already annoyed at the stigma of taking a 5th year in college in general lol. Many of my peers are already applying to professional school while I'm stuck at UC Davis still.

Ignore your friends. It's what's right for you
