I heard many dental schools
1. Do not accept engineering professor recommendation letters as science professor letters.
2. Do not accept engineering courses as chem/bio/physics prerequisites requirement.

These schools include OSU, UOP, USF, UD Mercy.
UD replied, "No we do not consider engineering as science."
Does anyone have a list or experience similar to mine? Please share.

I am an engineering student applying this cycle.

I know through my program that the head of the department will write letters to schools explaining our curriculum if student run into problems applying to professional schools. For example, we don't take the standard physics 1/physics 2 sequence, so almost anyone who applies to med school or dental school from our degree gets a letter like this from our department chair to send to schools. I will be doing this if needed for dental schools. I would ask your advisors and professors if they would be willing to do something like this.

In terms of the letters of recommendation, I don't have much information. I understand why a school would say they don't consider engineering as BCP, but not considering it a science doesn't seem logical to me. I did use one engineering professor as a science professor and don't anticipate any problems with this.

Does your school have committee letters? That'd bypass the letter of recommendation issue
