I'm applying this cycle, there's not much I can do about the dismal gpa, but should I consider retaking the DAT? I've been shadowing dentists since high school, and worked in a dental office over all my breaks during college. I love it, I know it's what I want to do with my life, but should I brace myself for disappointment with these stats? What's the best way to improve my chances? Stressed and depressed.

Apply to schools that accept candidates w lower stats. Off the top of my head I would say Tufts, BU, NYU, maybe temple. good luck

Definitely retake the DAT. Commit two months to studying, don't work or take classes. For the second month study about 8 hours a day. Your score will reflect the amount of time studying. Use as many study materials as you can. With a below average GPA you need a high DAT. Add LECOM and the other newer schools to your list.

Your stats are similar to mine except I had a lower Ts score. You definitely have a chance just make sure to apply early!

You have a chance. How are your EC's?

If you apply to 10+ schools, you probably will get an interview or two and if you do well interviewing you may get a spot. I would consider a retake. Your DAT scores are average for acceptances and your GPA is a little low. An above average DAT could put you back on even ground. Plus, a lot of the schools mentioned previously that accept lower GPAs usually have higher than average DAT scores(at least NYU.)
