Is there any place I can find the strengths/focuses of each OMFS program?

Trying to find where I could find information on each program about what they focus on a bit more than other things during residency... some programs are more trauma heavy, some are implant heavy, some orthognathic heavy, etc. Or do applicants typically investigate every program individually to find out?

The latter. It's pretty hard to find information about every OMFS residency program in one specific location. I browse all the OMFS threads on SDN...

I'm no OMFS hopeful but there are a few in my class (D4) who have collectively interviewed at over 20 programs. I would think something like this is pretty average for most schools. So I would warm up to upperclassman who are pursuing oral surgery and get their take on every program after they interview there. Obviously depending on the person you may have to take it with a grain of salt but I think this is a pretty good way to really learn about certain OS programs. Even better you can then contact them when you're applying and learn even more about the programs they hopefully are PGY-1s at. I used this strategy for myself in a different residency and it worked out nicely. Best of luck.

hard to find a single source of info
guess the best way is to extern at a bunch
do some 4 yr programs, some trauma and path heavy ones, some 6 yrs, some more academic in scope, etc.
maybe contact some alumni who are now residents to find out the scope (as previous poster alluded to)
I went to U Michigan
I can tell you it wasn't bread and butter, it was very cancer/path/big surgery focused. the med school yrs are a challenge but given you a great education. the gen surgery yrs the same. graduated a bunch of yrs ago, but at the time the programs that were more or less classified thay way were UCSF, Parkland, MGH, etc
