I finished my PGY-1 last year and am currently on LOA for a few different reasons (I left in good standing and on good terms with my program). I'm not sure if I'm going to return to medicine, but I've heard that it can be hard to get licensed if you haven't practiced medicine in a few years, so I applied for (and received) a medical license in my state.
Is the same thing true for getting a DEA number? From what I understand, getting a DEA number is a much more "mechanical" process - as long as you meet the requirements, your application is approved.
Is there any point getting a DEA number now? I'd rather save the money.
