Is there any point in paying AOA dues after paying the initial induction fee?

I'm an M4 already matched into a residency. I have AOA membership since last summer and have paid the initial induction fee. Now the AOA is asking me to pay annual dues.

Is there any point in paying these dues and maintaining membership? I am interested in pursuing a competitive fellowship in the future and I am not sure if it would be of any benefit to pay them.

Is it possible to skip a few years of dues, and then pay a due to reactivate my membership?

Thank you!

AOA membership does not matter after you start residency. I imagine fellowship directors only care (if at all) that you graduated AOA rather than sustained membership. My opinion would be you don’t need to pay the annual dues.

Your dues buy you an occasional magazine in the mail. I think I have a pin somewhere that will never touch fabric. Yeah, after residency starts, it’s not really worth it.
