I "heard" somewhere that osteopathic schools forgive a lowest grade if you've retaken a class... now, I don't expect this to be true.. and I've never seen anything to the contrary... but if anyone knows this to be true or has heard the same thing would ya let me know?

Thanks!

This is partly true. AACOMAS will not forgive the lowest grade, rather, they only count your most recent grade in a retaken class when calculating your GPA. So, if you received a "C" in Organic Chemistry I during your sophomore year, and then took the class again your senior year and received an "A" only the "A" will be factored into your GPA. Alternatively, if you received a "C-" in Organic Chemistry I during your sophomore year, and then took the class again your senior year and received a "D," the "D" will be factored into your GPA. Keep in mind that schools will still see all of your grades, so if you need to explain some erratic pattern in grades, you may want to do so in your personal statement.

Hope this answers your question. Good luck!
