Ok so I am a senior in college. I have really been interested in becoming a physician(MD in particular) over the past two years or so. I initially went to college to become a physical therapist. But after taking my core prereque classes (A&P, Bio, etc) as well as some other classes that frequently deal with typical med issues, I cannot help but be completely enthused by the medical world. I know my time as an undergrad is pretty much up, but I would a million times over rather be a doctor than a pt. I have done pt shadowing and I swear I paid more attention to the doctors floating around than the pt. Unfortunately I have no research or shadowing experience, haven't taken MCATs yet either. If I were to take an extra year or two to gain some experience(maybe apply to a masters program) and take the time to prepare and take the mcat, would I be in a decent position to apply to med school? Or would it be too late?

I have completed all of the typical prerequisites for med school except biochem, and my cGPA is a 3.5, sGPA 3.75.

In the coming year accumulate physician shadowing and clinical volunteering hours. Take the the MCAT after you have taken Biochemistry. With your current GPA you should be able to receive DO interviews with a MCAT of 500 or higher. For MD it depends on your state of residence and obtaining a MCAT of 508 or higher.
