i know networking is the best way to find a job. but when youve been out of school for 10 years and lost track of most of your contacts... and live in a small town theres not much to network. i remember when i just graduated school i got calls all the time from pharmacy headhunters. i know the pharmacist market has crashed (probably several times) since then. but is there any companies out there that still try to find jobs for pharmacists? any suggestions to help regain my network? ive started linked in and facebook soley to help me land a job.

I've found lots of leads using Indeed as a way to search for jobs. They do a nice job and have an iphone app too. Headhunters are still out there and I get calls time to time. Although its rather infrequent. I guess it depends on your skill set. Some of the pharmacy job sites have links to these companies...

Headhunters will stay in touch with you and continue trying to match you to a position which seems nice

BUT... the hiring managers do their best to fill positions without having to pay the H H fee so you are last in line for consideration, always.

I have had the pleasure of sitting net to a HH on a plane.... Got his contact info and he is a HH for the North Carolina/VA area. So yes, they are still out there!

Yep, they are out there - even I do get calls and e-mail occasionally (and I am most definitely not a person they should be looking for).

I would strongly suggest developing your LinkedIn profile, that's where headhunters get a big chunk of their leads today.

I started out in world of pharmacy recruiting many years ago by buying a headhunting business. The industry flourished until the last couple of years. We still have headhunters advertising on our site but they, like their namesake are going the way of the dinosaur. We operate a similar service but with a different label, we call it a Career-ling Concierge Service. And much like the reverse on the employer side (Candidate Sourcing Service) it pretty much works the same way. We help do the one thing that headhunters are good at ... make the match with the job seeker on the job! Just today we had a pharmacist contact us. he was in PA and wanted to stay within a 3-4 State area. We had close to 20 jobs on our site that matched his background and qualifications.
