Is there such a thing as applying too early?

I was thinking about this. If you apply the first day the applications open (AMCAS/TMSDAS), presumably you're verified earlier and your application is examined earlier. Doesn't that mean, however, that you will be scrutinized even more closely? I mean, if you're at the top of the pile, or near the top...the adcoms are in a position to reject qualified candidates because they know a bunch of applications have yet to come in. Or am I wrong?

I don't know where this train of thought came from...but is there truth to it?

Would it give you an advantage to apply the SECOND day around the after-noon instead of the first day apps open?

If you would be rejected (which schools seldom do right away) then you were not competitive.

Most of the time (from my experience), your application is set aside to be reviewed again later.

if you are questioning the first day vs the 2nd day.. it won't matter.. a lot of schools will download all the applications after a week or 2 and then start to look at them together so it really wouldn't matter.. pretty sure that if you apply within the first month, whether it be the first or last day of that month, it won't change anything

You're over-thinking it... get your application out there. They will review a pile of them as they come in and hand out interviews... repeat until the class is filled... if you are a good candidate and they have your application early you WILL get an interview... if you are a good candidate and they get your application late you MAY get an interview IF they have spots...

Survivor DO

I had low stats, so I credit my interviews, in part, to my early application. The schools that I applied to later didn't even look at me seriously.

Lol. I feel your pain. If I were you, I'd try to get it in as early as possible. Not right away, but in the following weeks I'd call to 'ensure that my application had been received at that there was nothing pending on my part', and slip in that I looked forward to attending the school. It might not help, but it sure has heck won't hurt...and every little bit counts.

It doesn't make a difference
