So I've searched the forums and can’t find an answer to this exact question. I plan on trying to take the date summer of 2014 because by then I’ll have G Bio 1&2, Chm 1&2, and OG Chem 1&2 and some other upper level classes finished, so it will be fresh in my head. I know if I start studying for them now I'll most likely forget most of it by test time. However, I thought it might be a good idea to start studying the PAT section and maybe the QR (since I’m horrible at math 👎). I feel like these sections are based off straight memorization, and are learned more from practice and technique.

You guys feel like this is a good idea, or is it a little too early?

Too early. I would want to study within the year you're taking the test.

PAT you could practice a little, more to get the idea than really trying to master it.

Good idea for PAT, math not so much. The formulas and whatnot will leave you. PAT is skill--not memorization--so it would be useful to start preparing for it.

Way too early. You have plenty of time. Make sure you ace your classes first then worry about the DAT later.

Maybe go ahead and buy CDP and do a test every now and then to get the feel. You'll probably have forgotten the answers anyway by the time you really crack down. However, this isn't necessary, but if it makes you feel better go for it. You'll be buying the software at some point anyway so it won't hurt anything.

Honestly though, you sound like you're really motivated so I'd just work on acing those classes. It'll make reviewing for the DAT much easier if you really nail those courses and have it fresh in your mind. I pretty much had to relearn gen-chem because it had been over two years and I never learned it great the first time.
