Hi, I just took the DAT yesterday... I think I'm pretty late in the applicaiton cycle, but I'm applying anyway. I already have my aadsas in.

Anyway, I got
PAT - 20
Quant - 29
Reading - 22
Bio - 21
GChem - 23
OChem - 18
TS - 20
AA - umm.. i forget, but it was 98%, i think??

Anyway, is that going to be enough to counter the fact that my application is a bit late? and what schools would your recommend, knowing this? (my undergrad gpa is 3.2, but with my master's courses, it is 3.4)

Thanks all.

pk.

what is your AA....you don't have the sheet?

If you are 20+, you aren't dead yet in my book.

I think you are fine in my book, just might have to wait awhile since it is a little later. Post what schools you are interested in, and you'll get more comments that you probably want!🙂 Realistically, after initial offers go out there will be another "wave" of interviews, acceptances etc., so you should be in that pool I would think.

Why do people like you solicit these forums? First off, if you really want to be a dentist, you probably did your homework and KNOW your scores are good. Second, why are you asking us your chances, I'm sure any admissions officer that reads this thread knows who you are now since you have your first, middle, and last name along with your GPA, and full DAT scores. Cheers.

I know you like fajitas in pitas, so therefore you must be from arizona, with maybe a touch of greek in you.😱 Cheers.

Way off. No Greek here. I'm from Antarctica. Arizona? That is random.

hah, yeah seriously... "uhhh, i dont know exactly what number it is, but it's like somewhere around 98%... is it a good score?? please be honest all, I'm really not sure if 98% is good"

Ok seriously though Paul, I'm not trying to put you down. It just frustrated me that you would ask a question like that, go check out the under 3.0 club thread, it might humble you to see where other people are coming from with relation to their stats. Good job on the DAT.

you got a 22 in reading and a 29 in quant, but you can't remember a 2 digit number on a piece of paper that correlates to your results on one of the biggest tests of your life. similarly to fajitapita, these people frustrate me. please check out the 3.0 thread and sleep easy tonight.

You guys are being really hard on paul. I couldn't remember all my scores right after the DAT...it was all a blur. If I didn't have the paper in front of me, I wouldn't have known. Don't take out your frustrations on unlucky worried new SDNers just looking for a little support from peers.

I think it's almost time for me to make my own "What are my chances?" thread.

[EDIT]
Also pk, your scores are fine.

um, I think you should work on your QR a little...

....j/k, a 29, that's awesome! You kicked **s, good job🙂

unlucky?
with those scores-hardly the case. those scores are great and there is no reason for worry.

I love how everyone bites at threads like this.

😀
If those scores ARE real...you still may have a chance...as long as your interviews go smoother than: "Uh, I can't remember what I got on the DAT...or my name, but I want to be a dentist."

😀

Any score thats in the 90%'s is obviously horrible....

You don't stand any chance getting in this year with scores that bad, wait till next year.

Hi all. Thanks for the responses, sarcastic or not. I really was curious, especially with the Ochem score being so different than the other numbers. I did do some research, but as I am out of school and had studied on my own, I didn't really have a chance to talk to other pre-dent students. And I have put in my time shadowing a dentist and doing other ECs... but, what with working full time and all, I just didn't have a chance to talk to many other applicants.... and since SDN is my main (well.. only?) source of information about other predents, I honestly had no base of what kind of scores to consider good or bad, since eVERyone on SDN seems have crazy good scores..

Anyhoo.. Thanks.

Oh, I'll be applying to schools mainly on the coasts. And Colorado, since I like snow.

OHSU
UW
USC
UCLA
Colorado
UNC
Columbia (reach)
Harvard (reach)
UCSF (reach)
UNLV
AZ
Creighton

According to my "research" on SDN, this may be more schools than some people... but then there are people who apply to more also.... sooo, if you have any other suggestions for schools to apply to, I would be grateful.

Thanks all.

pk.

unlucky referred to being ambushed by "frustrated SDNers. No more posts for me today...i'm way to edgy, had a bad day.👎

definitely apply to NYU

Wow! I'm really surprised nobody has told this guy that his AA is 24! It's just the average of QR, RC, and TS!

Yes, you'll get in somewhere.
Yes, you already knew that if you're posting on this forum.
Yes, you tried to brag about your scores, but you couldn't even remember one of the most important numbers. You also failed to realize that you can calculate AA given RC, QR, and TS.

I'm not impressed. I'm surprised people even entertain these posts.

P.S. 27/29/19 AA/TS/PAT

I see what you did there.

Very off topic, but I didn't feel like starting a new thread....on predents.com, a mechanical engineering major that has an interview to Harvard and got a 13 on Quantitative reasoning. If that score is right, he must have had a heck of a time in his math classes.

That can't be serious.

I noticed that too. How in the world does a mechanical engineering major not be able to do high school math?

I think I know why Harvard wants to interview him. The interview will essentially consist of the questions: How is it that you're such a *******? and why do you think we'll accept you?

They just want to get that straightened out. they don't actually want him.

It can't be possible to get a 13.

I hope he's just playing us for fools.

a 29 in QR. Smooth, way to miss that one question. "hmm, Choker, hmm, hmm"

There are sections in which you can get a 30? I thought 29 was the max in all sections.

depends on the version of the exam....i'm not sure if you're familiar with an sdner who guys by the name building. he got a 30 PAT and 30 QR, so its possible

It depends on the test version. I know someone who got a 30 in ochem,😉 .

The DAT seriously has the most secretive scoring system ever. Just publish some norms will ya, ADA. We only get teased by that dinky practice test you can score yourself from them.

Anyway, 2 research papers to write, late.
