I plan to go over just the concepts first - nothing more, nothing less. I want to understand the CONCEPTS from front to back. After studying/learning/memorizing the concepts, I plan to tackle the gen chem questions from practice tests - wherever I can find them. And as I practice questions (which is the most important) - I plan to strenghen my understanding of the concepts, aswell as get a feel for doing some questions.

I feel this way, I can perform best when I 'do' see the questions. I'll know where to start. It might take time, but what do you all think? Is it a waste of time? Are you all studying the same way? Are you all doing anything different? I took gen chem quite a while ago, and have forgoten quite a bit.

What do you all think?

You should reread your earlier post about "survival of the fittest"

i knew that would come around and kick me in the ass

Sounds like a good plan to me, afterall most of your gen chem questions on the real thing are CONCEPTS...and maybe usuing concepts to set up CALCULATIONS. Good luck.

I'm about to take the OAT next month and I started studying awhile ago. I was planning on doing what your plans are. Reading and understanding the concepts first. But, I've decided it's wasting time. I'm re-learning the concepts, but not so much as "from front to back" I think you should read over the concepts and learn them, but spend the majority of your time on practice problems. Good Luck

you know what? i think your right! but i'm still gonna go over the concepts, and then crash on any problem i can get my hands on!

what are you doing here in the pre-dent section, if you don't mind me asking?

since the DAT and OAT are very similar, i like to browse around here. the OAT forum isn't half as active as this DAT forum.
