Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on the SDN so I apologize if I am asking a question that may have been answered. I simply just would like an answer to a few issues I am worried about.

Recently I've been given an interview call by a school. I was overwhelmingly ecstatic about it, but while I was reviewing my application I noticed one small (but possibly fatal) mistake. On my AADSAS application I put my dentistry experience in 2009 when I did them in 2010. I've been fairly nervous in talking with the people who want to interview me and I've been trying to avoid mistake like these (prior to the application submission, I swear I checked everything three times).

On my TMDSAS application, it seems the application checked yes on a family member being a dentist when I do not recall checking that option. So far the three schools for the application haven't talked to me yet.

What do you guys think I should do about the mistakes above? I can assume that many people who want to get their applications out quickly tend to make mistakes but would it be wise to let the interview committee know about the mistake? I apologize if I am rambling, but I tend to talk quite a bit.

I appreciate any comments! Fairly nervous talking on this forum strangely enough (shakes loose).

I do not believe that either of the mistakes are fatal. For one, they do not really pay attention to dates. The only thing I would be worried about is if you did the experience in the dental school's clinic. They would be able to look up who shadowed that day and if you were not on their list then that could cause some trouble. If that experience was just with a general dentist, I don't think it will be that big of a deal.

As far as a family member being a dentist, you may get an interview question like, why didn't you shadow your relative? , or did this relative have a lot to do with your decision? .. things like that. Only then would I address that question and explain that it was a mistake.

To be honest, I would not worry at all about either of these. Good luck!

The error in the date for shadowing is something you can completely ignore. The check box about the relative is probably at the most something that could be a bump in the road during an interview, but something that would probably not make much of a difference if you correct yourself there.

I'd bet that during an interview, neither of these will actually come up - don't stress.

your worrying yourself about nothing lol.

Thank you for your very insightful comments! I do worry about pretty mundane things (especially after reading comments). Anyway thanks for taking the time to get back to me 🙂.

My shadowing and volunteer experience was through a private practice clinic. Just letting the person wondering know.
