I have to say that all of those fashion articles about watches are always a joke. It's obvious that the writers don't know anything about watches, not even the ones they recommend. I liked how the article made recommendations for the "third watch". It specified the IWC Big Pilot as an example, though not by name. It's a great watch, great in house movement, etc. However, it is almost 3 times the "recommended" price and significantly larger than it's recommended maximum size.🙄

Cheers!

Yeah, garbage.

My advice would be to save up for a hamilton khaki for a dress/interview watch, upgrade to a speedmaster or Portofino, then to a Portuguese or w/e your preference is for a dress leather strap watch, get a tag or w/e for a sports watch, upgrade to a seamaster pro, then to a sub/crosswind/iwc pilot or aquatimer, etc, then to an offshore, hublot, etc.

If you can afford a tom ford suit you shouldn't even be in the same area code as that watch. I wouldn't recommend wearing any but the most conservative Tom Ford suits to interviews in any case.

Yeah I guess conservative isn't really what Tom Ford's are all about. Maybe I'll go for a Canali or a Zegna. If I went and got a black leather band to put on this watch would it make a huge difference?

cheers

Yeah either of those would be fine. Buy a better watch.

I think I'm going to get a nice Seiko Skx779 aka. Black monster. Maybe put on a real nice leather strap on it later.

This is mine, it wasn't cheap but wasn't as much as those:

You can find lightly used portofinos for < 2k. If you're looking for something in the <1k price range, there's a German brand called Stowa that makes some cool stuff!

I would also recommend Oris in the 1k range. They make some really nice timepieces.
