hey guys,

i'm a first semester junior preparing for dental, and i'm an accounting major-weird combo, i know...

so i'm in an interesting situation here..i decided to go to dental school the end of my sophomore year, so i barely have enough time to get all my prereqs in and to apply. thing is, i'm thinking of taking the DAT May of 08 so that i can start applying over the summer...BUT i haven't taken ochem yet...right now, i'm taking bio and gchem, and senior year, i'm planning to take ochem and physics...so i basically havta study ochem on my own before i take the DAT...

am i trying to do something impossible? i've been reading around a lot, and it seems like the DAT is no joke...i need some advice!!

thanx guys...

Impossible? Nothing is impossible. Hard? Yeah it will be extremely hard. Just make sure that before you take the real DAT do as many practices as possible to see roughly what you will score on the real thing. I've heard of people getting a good Ochem score without taking the class, but let's face it, it's gonna be diffcult. Ochem is not exactly "easy" if you ask me. I only took the first half of ochem before the DAT and got a 17 on the Ochem section. I wish I would have taken both halfs before taking the DAT.

I had taken only Orgo I(in 2004) when I wrote DAT(this summer) and I am currently taking Orgo II. I didn't do good in Orgo I so I didn't remember "anything" in this summer. So I had to study orgo on my own in this summer, and it ended up getting 29 in orgo. So, nothing is impossible.

The DAT wouldnt be the problem. I think you would have a very hard time getting accepted or even getting interviews at D-schools before you took both Orgo and physics (especially orgo). Many schools give ppl. a hard time for applying before even taking even one prereq.
