Ok, my thread title is a bit misleading. I know they aren't joking when they asked for ALL allopath and osteop schools I've applied or will apply to, including the dates and status of each application. But I just don't know how my answer will affect my application. I applied to an equal number of allopath and osteopath school. I know a lot about DO philosophy, had experiences w/ it, and like it very much. I also believe in options. I don't care what my career initials will be, only that i will be practicing medicine. Once i disclosed the requested information, do you guys think it will reflect negatively on my application to NOVA?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry w/ your info 😀
One thing for certain: you really want to be a doctor. Good luck buddy! I hope to see you jump on the wagon of interviews/acceptances soon.

i am at kcom now. its my first year...finally! 😀 that is why i am not sure i will be able to complete the masters degree in arizona. 🙁

the years i entered above refer to matriculation yrs...so i started all this in 2001

honestly, i think each year i hurt my chances at allo/osteo schools because i would always apply late in th season. don't ask why....but i think part of it was i always took the aug mcat and wanted to wait until my scores came before i did anything...dumb

I applied to a ton of schools, 4 DO the rest MD and I put down as many as I could for both. I got an interview and an acceptence from NSU so take that as you want. *shrug* I don't really think they care as much as you would think.

thanks...i really wanted to be a doctor and did not want to give up. my only regret is not applying to DO schools in 2001 (actually my best mcat). i would have nearly been done by now!!! i am glad i found out more about DOs during my masters stuff when i worked at a cardiology office and half the docs were DOs. for some reason i didn't really think that they specialized. no one in my family is a doc and i didn't really use the pre med office. it wasn't until i read more on this site and stuff. in all honesty, DO really fits my degrees better anyway. (bs exercise sci/phys edu, focus on wellness, and almost a ms in exercise & wellness)

so anyway i love it here! i wanted to get away from the city for awhile. i am sure when the time comes i will be happy to move from here...but its great now. i can ride my bike easily to campus and around town to have a little fun inbetween...practicing wheelies and stuff, yeah its great 😀

i think at worst you might get grilled during your interview by the "Bad cop" about where or when you applied to other schools, but most times its probably insignificant

I think the main reason a lot of osteopathic schools want to know where else you have applied is to see if you are genuinely interested in osteopathy. For example, if you have applied to the top 20 allo schools in the country and just one or two DO schools, they may think you are using the DO schools as back up in case you don't get in to Hopkins. Or if you are wanting to stay in one region of the country you might apply to all types of schools in that region, allo or osteo. So long as you can explain your rationale somewhere along the line, either in the personal statement or if/when you get an interview, I don't think it will hurt you. Just be honest and know your personal motivation for applying to the schools you did, and you will be A-OK 👍

im an m1 at nova now, when i applied last year i filled out the secondary and told them all the md programs i applied to. they asked about a few of them in the interview, but i think it was out of curiosity, not to grill me. dont sweat it - the admissions committee here is pretty sweet. let me know if you want any other info.
