Preface: I'm not at all concerned that my app is doomed and I do not think this grade will affect my chances, I'm just curious because I honestly don't know what kinds of explanations adcoms are looking for.

I got a B- in intermediate French II my first semester of Freshman year. I tested into the course and only took it because my liberal arts school required it. I am horrible with foreign languages, and probably should have been in Intermediate French I.

My concern (and I didn't even think of it as an issue until I read through some other similar threads) is that this B- is on a transcript with nothing else but A's... So it is by definition an inconsistency, but it was my first semester and the only foreign language course I took in college. Pretty self explanatory, I just don't have a head for other languages.

Does this need explaining on secondary applications that ask about inconsistencies? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

NO, and quit fussing.

Thanks @Goro I think it's time for me to check-out of SDNland until I'm finished with all of my secondaries haha, this place tends to make us all crazy...

B- on French? If you have mostly A and no C, than you do not have to explain anything. French is not a science class in the first place or English. And I think unless you get a "C" or lower , you do not need to explain yourself.
