So I have looked at the AMCAS manual but I'm still unsure if it would be a science class or a non-science class. Also, how can they find out if it is or not?

Here is a course description from the course website

Class Title: Undergraduate Practicum in Life Sciences
Training and supervised practicum in laboratory setting for advanced undergraduate students in courses related to life sciences. Students work on oral presentation skills and assist in preparation and presentation of materials and development of programs under guidance of faculty members. May be repeated once for credit. Letter Grading.

Basically, during the class, I am an Undergraduate Assistant (UA) who helps the TA with the class. The class is a lab and biology related.

Any help would be great.. thanks!

Just list it as BIOL and if they change it, they change it. No penalty if they change the classification.

From the description, I highly doubt it.

That being said, it wouldn't hurt to list it as one. As stated above, no penalty for them changing it.

Highly doubt its science or highly doubt its non-science?

But I guess.. I should probably not get a letter of recommendation from this class as a science letter of rec.?

Highly doubt it's science, I think. It sounds more like a professional skills kind of class than learning sciences.

Even though it may not be classified by AMCAS as a science class, you could still use it towards your science requirement, IMO. It will depend on the schools how they take it.

If you're looking to boost your sGPA with this course, there's no harm in listing it as BIOL in your AMCAS. The worst thing they'll do is change it to something else -- it won't cause any delays and you might come out with a slightly higher sGPA.

Is this from UCLA? I remember hearing about this class from some of the UAs. I doubt the course counts towards your sGPA but is a good leadership course nonetheless.

Sounds like it haha. I was planning on listing it as sGPA and seeing if they changed it on the AMCAS.

I agree with this. There is no penalty for trying, so what do you have to lose?

Hhahaha lmao.. ya this is UCLA... But I guess I shouldn't get my letter of req from this class as my "science" letter of req...
