HI, with a step I of 230, ranking 4th of the class, honors in most of the 3rd year electives, passing most of 2nd and 1st year classes with honors, but comming from a LCME acreddited school not well known like Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico is that good enough to be at least considered in a residency program in Ophthalmology????

Yes, this is good enough. However, remember there are many other factors, such as:

1) You as a person counts a lot.

2) Your letters of recommendations.

3) Your achievements.

4) Your experience in ophthalmology and demonstration of interest in the field.

5) Your interview.

6) Who you know.
 
Thank Andrew, I was looking at the Dr. Doan FAQ and there were a lot of bad programs or at least not in good standing in acreditation and with people of this forum, like Tulane. What programs do yor recomends that are not hte best but are not in bad conditions. I just want to know all the posibilities out there?

Just make sure you apply to a lot of programs >50 to offset the potential bias

Perfecto, si no te molesta me gustaria saber como es tu experiensa ahora que ya estas para terminar y sabes mas de todo esto de solicitar para las residencias de ophthalmologia. Como te ha ido aya en donde estas haciendo la residencia? Aceptan estudiadntes para hacer electivas de 4to ano, pero aunque no tengamos lo de el insurence, por que muchos programas exigen mas de 1 millon y aqui solo nos cubre hasta 300.000.

Bueno me gustaria seguir preguntando pero despues pongo mas preguntas para ver si me puedes dar buena orientacion.
