In searching for a job for PT tech, I found this ad on Craigslist for a chiropractic assistant:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/hea/2469393897.html

I don't intend to start a chiro bashing thread, but is this legal? Can they get in trouble for hiring someone to help with physical therapy? From what I understand chiropractors have to be very careful about how they use the phrase "physical therapy", but does this count as one of those instances? Just curious for future reference.

Depends on if there is a physical therapist employed there. Knowing the AZ law (I work in AZ), I easily found the statute (law): http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/32/02042.htm&Title=32&DocType=ARS

But what the statute (32-402 section C) states is, 'A person or business entity or its employees, agents or representatives shall not use in connection with that person's name or the name or activity of the business the words "physical therapy", "physical therapist", "physiotherapy", "physiotherapist" or "registered physical therapist", the letters "PT", "LPT", "RPT", "MPT" "DScPT" or "DPT" or any other words, abbreviations or insignia indicating or implying directly or indirectly that physical therapy is provided or supplied, including the billing of services labeled as physical therapy, unless these services are provided by or under the direction of a physical therapist who is licensed pursuant to this chapter. A person or entity that violates this subsection is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.'

So cannot say if legal or not.....depends on if a PT is working there. In AZ, PT Tech or Aides can carry out part of the plan of care for a PT, so if there is a PT employed there, then it appears to be legal.

Makes sense. For further clarification, I sent them an email asking if the applicant would be working under the supervision of a physical therapist. We'll see if they respond.
