Hello SDN!

I know there are tons of these sorts of questions about LORs out there but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. So... I would really appreciate some advice on my specific case!

I know the LOR thing is tricky with so many different requirements. Right now, I have a letter from a dentist, and a letter from an upper div science professor. My question is... what should my last two be?

Options:
- lower div bio TA, possibly have professor cosigned.. could write a good letter, known for 3 years
- post-doc supervising me in my research lab (biology dept.), possibly have PI cosign, known for 2 years
- public health professor from this semester only.. I've been to some office hours, very nice guy. (could count for humanities?)
-write to old physics professors who probably does not remember me and ask for a LOR?

What I've been advised is to get the letters from my research postdoc and the TA since they know me well....are these acceptable as science LORs since its not exactly from THE professor? Is cosigning even necessary? And if I were to cosign... when you electronically enter information on the AADSAS whose name and information do you put? Any second opinions would really help.. thanks!

"Science LORs" are supposed to come from the professor (he is supposed to write it), not the TA. Besides physics professor, the other LORs you listed will not count as science LORs.

I would definitely go with post doc or TA. Reason being it is better to have a good letter that demonstrates why you would be a good dental student/dentist than someone who is just filling your name in a template letter. I came from a very big school, UCB, and sometimes it is very difficulty to get to know your professor on a personal level. In fact, the only one I was friends with was my faculty advisor for 3 years and I know she did an awesome job on my letter. My other letter came from my TA in a very very tough class, in fact I got a C+ in it. But she knew how much I tried in class and how much work I did outside of class from her office hours. My professor gladly co-signed the letter.

TAs and post docs are not "professors".

Hey, thank you for your replies. I'm from UCB too! So I know exactly what you mean.. luckily I do have one professor that I know personally. But it is very difficult to get to know science professors in such large classes. If I ask my TA and get the professor to cosign.. I think it could turn out to be a really strong letter. Are schools really so strict about this? Also can anyone answer my question about the cosigning and entering information on AADSAS? Its about time that I start asking for LORs.. so I'm tryin to get this all figured out..

Wheres your dentist's LOE? Some schools require one to be from a dentist
