I graduated in 2016, sGPA is 3.27, cGPA is 3.33. First two years I had sub-3.0 (freshman sGPA was 2.65 🙁 ). Overall I had 3.7 sGPA my final two years, (40 credits of BPCM I think) and I have a 3.83 post bac gpa of 7 credits, but couldn't take multiple the same semester due to class timing and working full time.

For context my sGPA was poor in the beginning due to C- in Calc 2, C in genetics, C+ in anatomy courses, B- in ecology etc.

My last two years I received two A-s and one A in 3 semesters of physics, As in various upper level neuro classes, A- in both orgo 2 and orgo lab, etc. The reason my sGPA isn't lie 3.8+ for last two years is due to one B- in biochem (but got 131 on MCAT go figure) and a B+ in 2 or 3 classes.

Residency is in New England

MCAT is 515 (128/128/131/128) from 2015

Research:
  • 2500hrs, 3 different labs, current lab manager as full time job for past year (45hrs a week, at very prestigious academic hospital, not sure if that matters at all probably not)
  • first author publication, another first author pub coming this summer sometime.
  • Multiple abstracts in major national conferences (2nd author out of 7)
  • Mentored/taught summer student in current lab for 10 weeks if that matters
Clinical:
  • 55 hours shadowing, 4 different specialties
  • 100hrs hospital volunteering, very patient intensive. This was over 3 semesters (no summers) and trained new volunteers in this position.
  • Hospice volunteering with dementia patients (just started due to timing issues, only about 15hrs when I apply)
  • IDK if this is clinical, I know its not a physician but I shadowed multiple mental health outpatient/inpatient facilities (only about 10hrs total)

Non-clinical Volunteering:
  • 25hrs food bank, started in March, still ongoing
  • 40hrs special olympics (3 tournaments), still ongoing
  • Special olympics asst. coach for this summer ( begins later this month, I'm not applying until July 1st or so) but will only be handful of hours by the time I apply.
Other:
  • 3 part time jobs in college (not at the same time) probably 200hrs total (not a lot)
  • Self-employed yard work for 2 summers (500hrs)
  • Did 4 years/12 total seasons of competitive intramurals at school (3 different sports) just to provide other info

LORs:
  • Very very good, 3 different PIs all 3 of them dept chairs at different med schools.
  • MD letter, professor letters etc., and a character letter
  • Using committee packet
School List:

Drexel
Temple
Quinnipiac
UConn
Loyola Chicago
Georgetown
George Washington
Wake Forest
Vermont
VCU
EVMS
Virginia Tech
Tulane
Rosalind Franklin

UMass (not a legal resident but I live in the state for past year and pay taxes here)
BU (not sure since averages are so high but I see upward trend stuff)
NYMC
Oakland

I have very strong ties to one of the florida schools, also can apply to 25 max due to committee letter restrictions. I also plan on taking two more courses at least during the cycle, I know it won't be in GPA but I guess I can send with updates whenever this paper is published too

Thanks for the help I appreciate it. Also for context my PS discusses my desire to bridge the gap between research and patient care and how I want to embody the whole spectrum of medicine, as in I want to advanced the field but be able to form connections with patients and provide a source of comfort etc. while helping them. One of my LORs discusses this as well

I'm not a fan of ties unless you actually went to the school, or lived in the state, hence delete the FL state schools. Delete U CT unless you're a Nutmegger. Delete Va Tech (highly quirky, small class size, and OOS unfriendly). Don't know if Keck rewards reinvention, but definitely add NYMC, Albany, Case, Dartmouth and maybe Hofstra and/or Emory. Also add some DO schools, like PCOM, NYITCOM and UNECOM.
