I plan on applying this coming cycle to a broad range of schools PLUS post-bacc programs.

I'm specifically interested in the LECOM-E program. Would love to stay midwest/east coast. Also I've heard pretty good things about LECOM DO school and hopefully, if I do well in post-bacc, I can for sure go there Fall 2017.

The reason I am asking is bc I will be at LECOM post-bacc (if admitted) while I am getting interviews/acceptances (hopefully) at the same time. I thought worst case if I do not get accepted anywhere else, I will prob end up at LECOM DO and I would have no problem with that. If I do get accepted elsewhere and go there, then yeah I guess I wasted 13K + living expenses, but it will help me perform 1 year of med school anyways at the very least.

Thoughts on this approach?

Thanks for the input.

You've already posted something similar already in a thread...why are you repeating yourself again? The thread was titled "plausible or implausible."

We've already discussed this with you, and you can continue that old thread instead of putting it up in a new thread.

You really need to take the MCAT, and report back your score so we can further assist you. Your GPA is fine for newer schools with a good MCAT score. You do not need to really take SMP or post-bac programs unless you are missing prerequisites. Just retake a couple of classes you did poorly in, and bump that GPA to a 3.4. There's really no need to waste all that money on a postbac program.

You still haven't even taken your MCAT, so why are you trying to waste money on a postbac when it might not even be needed? Study hard and take the MCAT. Even if you had a 4.0 GPA and a poor MCAT, this would still be a problem.

What I am trying to emphasize more in this post is it reasonable to do a post-bacc as a safety net. My sGPA will be 3.1 and my cGPA will be 3.3. Getting it to a 3.4 probably will not happen. Even with a good MCAT like a 504+, I still think it would be smart to do a post-bacc during next year so in case I don't get an acceptance I will matriculate into LECOM's DO school.

Worst case with PostBacc - Enter LECOM's
Best case with PostBacc - Decide to go to anywhere else I've been admitted or go ahead and still go into LECOM's

My MCAT will be solid I feel (and hopefully good). I've been studying for 2 months already with a tutor going over every chapter. I don't take it until April 1st. My LoR's and EC's are above average I'd say. My GPA is the problem I feel and that is what Post-Bacc programs can fix.

Feel me?

Do it.
