I was speaking with someone who is a pharmacist and he stated he made more than 200k last year...I really doubt it...has anyone every hear of a pharmacist making 200k. I have heard near 110-120k but not 200k plus...This person said it was do to overtime.... 🙄I just wanted to run it by all the experts here in this net work and get your prospectives....

Yup, definitely possible. Sounds like he'd have to combine it with a graveyard shift differential + overtime. This person probably does 7-on-7-off and works a few days during the off time.

I can say for sure overtime = $$

Not sure about 200K, I wouldn't expect a pharmacist to lie though

wow i could nt believe it...he told me his goal was to make 300k...I laughed at him..but i guess i might be the idiot...

I really did not know what to think

Could it be possible that he's working two jobs? 16 hrs a day --> 80 hrs a week? I know of one pharmacist that works 16 hrs a day so it could be possible.

I have a pharmacist friend who told me a while back that Walgreens was looking for pharmacists to work 7 on 7 off overnight shifts in the DFW Metroplex and paying 300K/yr.

there is a float pharmacists that works 7 on, 7 off at a hospital, and then works his days off at retail....the retail pharmacies around here (MN) are so understaffed that he can demand/ask for $75 hour, and $100+ on weekends, and they will still hire him to fill in when needed.

He even contracts out other pharmacists at the hospital to work for him: he signs up for a shift at my store pharmacy, has another pharmacist go in and work, and then only pays the pharmacist a fraction of what he is paid. he asks for $100/hr and pays the pharmacists that works for him $75/hr... kinda sketchy to me.

but 200K is definitely possible.....

i know of a few pharmacists who make over 200k per year with a single full time job but they work for a smalll privately owned chain and they are considered partial owners .. so I don't know the particulars of if they had a buy in or contract or whatever ...

A good friend of mine has been pulling down 200+ for the last 6 years by working overnights, then picking up time-and-a-half OT shifts on his weeks off.

A couple of pharmacists I worked with at Walgreens told me they pulled around 200k the previous year...one of them told me he worked 60-80 hrs a week that year since he needed money to plan his wedding. There was one pharmacist, though, who strongly disputed that fact, telling me it was "impossible" and that Walgreens wouldn't allow such overtime pay...this pharmacist also happened to discourage me in becoming a pharmacist, saying that vending machines are going to take over pharmacies in the next 10 years...lol 😛

That's funny about the machines taking over... I think that they said computers were going to take over too, but then someone was needed to push the buttons on the object they call a keyboard and mouse... hahah:laugh::laugh::laugh:

so you can go to a vending machine and get your cola, vicadin, and viagra all from the same machine...:laugh:

It's not a problem of CAN machines do the job, because they can, as someone who was a software engineer in a past life I can tell you that if you can think of it, I can get a computer to do it. The real problem is one of public trust; people would much rather trust a doctor or pharmacist than they would a 'machine.'

As is, at least in high volume retail sites, most prescriptions are filled by techs or machines, the pharmacist does the final QA to ensure correctness, and even with that I'm not seeing less demand for pharmacists, quite the opposite. And to tie back into the original topic, that's how they can get all of that overtime to earn in the $200Ks.
P-)

I just think its funny that our public would see medication dispersed from a machine...nothing against you

I imagine that Pharmacists that work as medical analysts for Pharmaceutical companies make that kind of $$..

When i staffed pharmacists, most of them already had a full time job, i would hire them to do some PRN work when they wanted it. I would also pay them to travel and spend the night if i needed them to. They would just call me at the beginning of the month tell me when they were available and where they wanted to work and i would "make it happen". i had one pharmacist working well over 60-70 hours a week because he wanted to buy his condo within 1 - 2 months with cash. And he called me on the closing day about a month and a half later saying he just got the keys. :hardy:😀

soooo getting to my question ...does these pharmacist make 200-300k a year

do you still doubt that pharmacists can make that much??? Based on the many comments in this thread, looks like it is pretty easy to make 200-300K if you work overtime and or multiple jobs

seriously, your question has been answered over and over

seriously what...I just wanted to know more from the guy...that is all...ssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiooooooooooouuuuuuuusly🙄

😎🙄😕

why dont you tell me😡

I dunno I'd expect a thread like this from a pre-med or a HS student, not a person in their 30s though. 🙂

The trick is making that kind of money and not having to put in 80 hours+/week. Working 80hrs a week all the time, no thank you.

I agree that these threads are pointless, if you know the average pharmacist hourly wage and can do simple multiplication then you would have your answer. But it is a public forum so let these "cool" threads flow.

This is the second time you attack me and try to be little me because my age...do you like to belittle people...... stick to the threads telling women what to wear at an interview...I guess that is your cup of tea....and it is really essential and important.....

Sorry that you feel attacked - I didn't mean to attack you. Since you specifically asked I won't read your threads anymore. I guess I'll stick to women's threads from now on - afterall I am just some dumb Russian chick.😉

stay on topic people or this thread may have to be closed.........🙄

haha just close it, the question has been clearly answered. or else i'll open a bigger can of insults & hellfire. 😱

You need experts for multiplication problems? :meanie:

Quick calculation: 80hrs/week, $50/hour, 52 weeks/year =208,000 that is assuming no overtime at all. If you were making $55/hr you would come in just over 200,000k with 70hrs/week.

If you were getting piad time and a half for your overtime and worked 70hrs/week you would be around 221,000, 60hrs/week =182,000.

I don't get what you doubt, you are so special that this pharmacist wanted to impress you by inflating his income...lol.......simple math, work lots of hours =you make more money.
This is not an attack either I just fail to see what is so puzzling.

I was waiting for your response...It was just a converstaionaly thread...but again all you over overcheiving book nerds like to put someone down and let people know you are just so smart........but thanks buddy for your advice...NOW I JUST HAVE TO SEE WHAT CONFETTIFLYER AND THE GREAT RUSSIAN CHEBURASHKA HAVE TO SAY....TRUST ME THE THREE ALWAYS GIVE VERY DELIGHTFULL MESSAGES....ESPECIALLY CHEURASHKA WHO SAYS I CANT BELIEVE A 30YEAR OLD WOULD ACT LIKE THAT...LOLlololol

Don't tell me that this is the end of the thread. I've been choking with laughter seeing u guys go at each other. Oh SDN

I doubt the fact that I know how to multiple is going to impress anyone....overachieving book nerds....? because I can multiple all by myself?

I just thought it was weird that you wouldn't do the math real quick before you accused a pharmacist of being a liar. You can whine that this is a personal attack but what about your attack on his integrity without taking the 2 seconds do some some math. People do expect a different level of questions out of a 30 year old compared to a 18 year old freshman and they should...due to life experiences and perspective...It is not always an attack.

At least if you did not get anything else out of this thread, you can stop assuming that the pharmacist was a liar, seeking to impress you with big salary numbers.
