Is this undergrad class schedule even possible?

  1. Pre-Dental
This would be for my second semester of senior year. I'm doing a year of service post-grad and then applying next summer. I have a nontraditional, soft science major but can finish a bio major with this schedule. Is it worth it?

Biochem (will take regardless)
Animal physiology (will take)
Evolution of botany (would only take for bio major)
Current topics in ecology (would only take for bio major)
Cell structure and function (up in the air about this)

In my opinion I wouldn't take that much science courses at one time.
I talked to some advisors at my school, and they would recommend taking 3 science courses max at one time.
I too am taking Biochem and evolution right now, and I went to both professors and spoke with them and they both recommended me not to take any other science classes apart from those since biochem itself has a lot of information

Dental school is kind of like that with 5+ classes and 23-30 credit hours in a semester. If you think you can do it then go for it, however you mentioned that you have a nontraditional soft science major. I don't know if you have taken this much load before, but those classes can get heavy at times. Physiology and Biochem are really detailed and in-depth courses. Ecology and Evolution are okay, but they are covering things about plants, animals, and all the non-molecular stuff which many of us don't seem to like in Biology. Cell structure and function should be manageable for you.

I'd advise against it... Ecology and botany is not even factor into your BCP gpa and dental school don't care if you have a biology degree or not. Five classes is a lot. I would focus on your GPA.

Don't take that many. I'm in animal phys biochem and developmental bio right now and it's intense. I couldn't imagine adding more science to that.

Why don't they factor into the BCP GPA?? They are courses offered by the biology department.

Yeah nevermind. Ecology and botany is approved as BCP. But plant science, on the other hand, is classified by adea as other sciences even if offered by the bio department (TIL: botany =/= plant science)

Really? I never knew there was an "other sciences" classification. I'll have to check this out. Thanks!

OMG don't even attempt

You've got bigger problems once you hit d1, if you can't do it now you better start worrying. Although I would question why taking all those classes may or may not be necessary.
