So in my application there are two pretty distinct halves. There's the first 3 semesters which is due to a bad series of events in my transition to college and the last 3 which I believe is more representative of my "true" abilities. My GPAs were also pretty different (3.7x/3.6x/3.8x vs 3.97/4.0/4.0)
I originally used part of my PS to explain the initial lack and why my ECs were so backloaded, and to discuss how my interest in sports has helped me out in my academic career. Senior year I plan to continue those most recent ECs+resume one more. Overall everything looks okay but the duration is questionable (most are only 2-3 semesters, but # of hours is somewhat in line w/ everyone else.. ie 200 hrs clinical volunteering BUT in 2 semesters rather than 4 or 6 like most other people). Also my involvement in my first EC has been pretty weak but I don't think it is a big deal (not my most meaningful moment) and it's actually student run so no one remembers how involved I was anyway
In terms of the PS I've had 2 people suggest that I remove this section, one because it kinda sounds like I had a chip on my shoulder and that it as it stood it didn't fit in with the rest of the PS (the other parts were pretty related, but this wasn't). I personally question whether the perspective is unique or not
