Is Torque Short for Torture?

As I slog ungracefully through the TPRH Torque chapter, I really feel like perhaps it is torture. Does anybody have a favorite resource for understanding torque and rotational equilibrium?

Coincidentally, I think the origin of the word torque actually has a loose association with the word torture.

Just think of pushing a door on a hinge.

Yeah. The questions that were tripping me up were the ones where you have a pole sticking out from a wall connected to a cable and you have to find the tension in the cable. That took a while to get.
