Is where to take prerequisites important?

I need to retake all the prerequisites since my international transcripts are not accepted in the US. I have two choices, one is an University and another one is a state college. The state college will cost me about 5 times cheaper... I only need the transcripts but not degree. I was wondering if the place would make much difference.

My vote is for the state college (provided it's accredited and preferable not a CC). Just try and maintain a high GPA, and it shouldn't matter.
